Minecraft

 

This week we have made a Minecraft world. It was based on what we will need on a deserted Island. Lucy and I made a house with chests containing stuff we will need. There is a kill room in the second story of the house. In the kill room, there is pigs, cows and chickens. When we run out of food to kill we have to put more animals in. There are horses running around the Island and a pen with turtles in them. I liked to make the island. Have you played Minecraft?      

Snow White and the Waru and a Half Matific Monsters Production

 This term we have been doing a production. The name of the production is Snow White and the Waru and a Half Matific Monsters. There are Monsters, Snow White, a Prince, Guards, Trees, a Rock, Narrators, a Frog, a Horse, a Fairy, a Mirror, Mr Cowell, The Kind Queen, The Wicked Queen, Huntsmen, and a Bird. We were going to do it on the stage but because of Covid, we have had to film it. There are 4 scenes in the show. I am riding my horse in one scene.  I was the horse but the teachers thought that I caught ride my horse in if I was fine with it. Every class has a dance, our class dance is to the song  Am I Wrong . I am also in the dance group, the song for that is Ugly Heart. Have you done a show before and if you have what was the name of? We do it to learn how to work in a group and to learn how to memorize lines.

Lockdown

 This week we have deen doing school at home. We have had to do it on a google meet with the whole class. It can be hard to do work at home because it can get distracting. We have been going for walks around the block and the beach.  We have been doing lots of gardening because we just moved in just before lockdown. Caden and I had a water balloon fight on Tuesday. We had 200 balloons, we bought them when we went on a walk. I have been horse riding on Coby a lot because I had nothing to do. What do you do in lockdown?

Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

 This week we have been learning about the Olympic Games. The Olympic is on every 4 or 5 years like this year we are having  2020s Olympic because the Olympics was cancelled last year because of covid. We have to do some research about a competitor that is competing. This year I chose a horse rider named Uma O’neill  and her horse's name is Edelweiss. They have been partnered since Edelweiss was 8 years old. They have just go her first Grand Prix on the 7 of July 2021. Have you been watching the Olympics? Do you have a favourite sports person at the games?  

Scratch

We have been learning about  how to make a game on Scratch. The game I made was a game when you have to move the couch to catch the cat and the dog. Scratch is a coding game so you have to put blocks in and make a code that makes things move.Have you made a game on Scratch? Have you used Scratch before? We have been learning how to code and problem solve. When I did it and it did in't work it was very frustrating. Mr A went for a course and then came back and showed us how to make a game.  

Art

 

This term we have been learning about Emily Carr she was a Canadian artist that loved  painting trees. This is how we did it, we started by doing the background we picked 2 or 3 paints and sponged it on the paper. Then we had a practice at doing our trees, after that we painted the trees on the background. Then we did grass we signed them. Did you know about Emily Carr? 

Fake Poster

In reading this week we have been learning about how to spot fake news and how to tell the difference so we don't get sucked in to it. We had to make a poster and read a site of it. One of the readings were a tree octopus. Do you know how to spot fake news?     

 

Biggest Skatebord

 

Today the Biggest Skatebord came to school and we got to go and have a look at it  then we got to ask some questions The resin that they were going around schools is because they are promoting the skating for the Olympic Games. It is the first time they will be held at the games. If you are at school did it come to your school? 

Crazy Cross Country

 I have learnt to pace myself and keep on running Have you done cross country?  Do you pace yourself?

I got 4th place in years 6 girls the years 5 and 6 had to do 4 laps. We did it around school and up in the fort. The fort is at the back of the school and it has hills and trees.

History

 

We have been learning about Kaniere and Hokitika's History. We had to make a poster then it got printed out and we got some Velcro and we had to cut the edge of it and Mr A got Renny, Lucy, Cooper, Elizabeth and me to put them on the wall.It was fun because you can find our one pictures and make the poster. Do you no what the history of where you are from.

The world war 1

 We have been learning about the war at first we were watching a lot of videos then we reed Anzac and then we write our own letter from Gallipoli we write it on our Chromebook then when we were finished we got paper and tea we put the tea on the paper when the paper was dry we write what was on our   chrome book  on the paper. Do you now about the war?

The Big Day Of Running

 This week we had athletics at the high school this year I Pushed myself to do 1000 m  then after we did athletics  we walked to the beach to clean up by the time we walked the beach and picked most of the rubbish. Our parents were there to pick us up at the end of the day. If you do wall you mite go to districts athletics I made it to districts I made it in for shot put long jump high jump 80 m 50 m and 1000 m.

Cactus To the Point

 This year we have been doing Cactus life skills with our tutors Pita And Pascal.   We have been doing Cactus since the start of the year.Today we trust skills with my partner Theo and we would get blindfolded and they why would lead us over obstacles. Whoever was blindfolded first would get led around by their partner. Then we would swap over and get to lead the other person.

 We were learning to trust each other and be supportive.

I enjoyed the part when we got lead around by our partner and finding the rocks.

Districts Swimming

On the 17/3/2021 we had Districts Swimming. I got a 1st and a 2nd but it is about timing. I didin't get into  the West Coast Champs in the swimming. We went because if we won a race at school swimming you got to go to the Districts Swimming and if you get a certain time at Districts you got to go to West port.Have you been to Districts Swimming before? 

The Best Cricket player

 Yesterday we had Cricket practice at school with two Cricket experts from Canterbury Cricket.  We played a lot of games.  The first game was a game when we had to run from the person who had the ball because they were in. Then we throw the ball in a group then we had to learn to bowl and hit the wickets, if you hit the wicket you can take one out.  The first one to hit all the wicket won.Have you played Cricket before? 

The Smartest In The Wold

 Last week we went to Clued Up Kids it had the fire brigade, How to be safe with a horse, The police search and rescue, St Johns, The Alpine Fault, How to be safe in the kitchen, How to be safe on a motorbike and Kiwi rail. For the fire brigade we had to crawl throw a dark maze so we know what it is like in a house fire. For the horse safety we learn't not to run next to a horse. For the police search and rescue we  learn't how people go missing. For St Johns we had to wrap and raise someones arm. For the Alpine Fault we had to drop cover and hold. For kitchen safety we to walk around the kitchen and see what is wrong. For the motorbike safety we got on a motorbike and got tipped over  For the Kiwi rail we learn't that trains cant stop so we have to. Have you been to Clued Up Kids before?

The Best Writer In The Wold

We have been doing a E - Book for the school to Read. We had to take a picture of a photo and put it on the slide then we starter writing. When we finished we had to get a partner and we buddy conferenced it then we put it on our learning site.  
 

All About Me

 This week we made a poster to say what we like. We did the all about me poster to so people who did not know us well what we are like.   Mr Abbott doesn't  like white so we had to colour it in and make it fun.

Professional poster

This week we have been doing a Kawa of Care poster. We did them in with a partner and my partner was 
  Cooper. It was on a plain  white background and black words so we made it fun by making it colourful so it would stand out more. We made the poster on Canva. We are going to put them on the wall. Have you made a poster using Canva before?
